Getting High in Central Idaho (Jul 2019)

In what has become a two-year tradition, the 4th of July weekend found us back in Idaho with Ben and Kirsten, exploring around the central part of the state. This year, we made our way to a few places we'd been before - namely Railroad Ridge (the highest road in Idaho), and the creeptastic Livingston Mine. But, we also visited several places that were new - often the best part of any trip - Deadwood Reservoir, Dagger Falls, Washington Basin, the Old Custer Motorway, and Twin Peaks.

In the process, we crossed avalanche- and scree-fields, explored lost mines, and found ourselves with views to infinity. It was spectacular.

I went to bed hoping that our position on the ridge would result in some stupendous sunrise photos, but as morning rolled around, it was clear that ridges around us had been inappropriately placed by the Earth, and that all I was going to get was a…
Getting Even Higher in Idaho, Again Getting Even Higher in Idaho, Again - July 7, 2019. It rained on and off through the night, but it was warm enough that the tents dried off quickly each time it did. And of course, cloudy skies meant no sunrise - and for me, more sleep! Having circled the trucks in camp, things were reasonably peaceful…
Rig Review: Idaho July 2019 - What worked and what didn't? Rig Review: Idaho July 2019 - What worked and what didn't? - July 29, 2019. In perhaps our most-traveled month to date, July was nearly an entire month in Idaho. In fact, we've had four trips in the last couple of months to this tiny state - after only having visited once before. After our SE Idaho trip to Indian Hot Springs…
